Rotten or missing trim or siding can allow water to leak behind flashing and into your roof. Worn out flashing or missing sealant can also cause roof leaks around dormers.

Dormer leaks can be caused from a number of issues. Look for cracks in the base of flexible rubber flashing or broken seams in metal varieties of vent pipe flashing. The longer you wait the more damage there will be and the more it will cost to repair. Grab a bucket trash can or some other container and place it under the site of the drip or suspected leak.
