The abc roofing apprenticeship program offers students the opportunity to quickly become a roofing mechanic ii or leadman on a crew. Assemble temporary equipment or structures. Some also learn this job onsite with appropriate training from specialists. Most importantly it s an opportunity to develop the next generation of roofing professionals.

Measure roofs to calculate the quantities of materials needed. Replace damaged or rotting joists or plywood. Install vapor barriers or layers of insulation. Estimate materials and labor required to complete roofing jobs.

After completing the three year program apprentices have the opportunity to build a long term career making 50 000 or more a year. Roofers typically do the following. The position also requires stamina and balance as roofers often work at heights while operating various machinery and equipment. Inspect problem roofs to determine the best way to repair them.

Besides learning how to lay various types of roofing materials on residences and industrial and commercial. Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs. Remove debris or vegetation from work sites. Roofing apprentices learn a variety of skills related to the construction industry.
